About Me
Welcome to my digital collection of illustrations and designs. I’m Amy, an aspiring illustrator and graphic designer, originally from the north west of England. My base is now in Lincoln which is where I received my Bachelor’s degree in Illustration from the University of Lincoln in 2022.
I often look for creative opportunities in my work. I've created menu boards, produced a wall mural and made content for my social media @sansom_art. I often use traditional drawing methods in conjunction with new technologies in my work, I explore the urban landscape (city themes). I am also fascinated by the use of juxtaposition and metaphor in colour and context.
Background and Inspiration (Photos to come)
I value my family and relationships, coming from a small family, art is often interwoven into many memories, these influence my work. Art and design have always been involved in my life in some way. Inspired by my mum. When I was very young i managed to do some dodgy construction with cardboard to make a pair of jellycats, as a teenager I loved to draw and paint art was very much my favorite and most confident subject, following into adulthood I’ve made some textile adventures creating designs on my clothes to hide stains, this proved to be a very useful skill as a student. I find creating to be calming and yet energising at the same time, during my degree, I have a first and second-year degree in Fine Art. However, I found my love for illustration after changing courses in 2019. I'm currently a finishing student doing a BA(Hons) in Illustration at the University of Lincoln. Magic the gathering, Magic a card game I enjoy playing but more importantly I love the artwork, I love how no two are the same, I love the amount of ideas for new imagery come out of the same game. It’s an engaging way for people to invest in art that credits the artists themselves.
I believe I try to look at the broader picture in my artwork, I try to be empathetic and invite debate into my art. I am passionate about improving our environment, I am yet to drive and continue to advocate for more intentional consumerism and less environmental shame/apathy. “Maybe one day every room will have a view”. -Amy Sansom As a confident landscape illustrator I often explore how I can portray environmental issues in a passive way, calling the viewer or weirder public to see the bigger picture. I have explored copywriting and 3D modeling in an attempt to expand my skills, as an illustrator I am confident using photoshop, illustrator, canva and procreate (see cv). I have practical computer skills and often enjoy gaming in my spare time. I find myself often inspired by game art and see this as a target for my future.
